Day 1 travel

Well day one of our trip is done.  Ya know even though it was spent in the car driving, it was filled with a lot.  Four females in the car is a real roving hormone-mobile even if 2 are under 7 years of age.  This was exhibited by the fact that 2 of us cried before the day was over.  Terri cried because she had to leave her beloved Sadie behind and me because I well who really knows why I cry.  Maybe because I was tired, maybe because the sun was in my eyes...or heck maybe because it was 3:00 and I had not cried yet.

We must have stopped to pee 6 times in all.  I was really surprised that we managed to keep our 8 hour day to only nine hours.  (One hour was spent stuck in Tulsa, OK due to road construction.)

We got to the KOA campground at 5:00 and oh was it scorching hot!!!  I must say that Terri was a trooper.  She came into it with an open heart.  She plopped herself on the bed and laid there with a cold cloth on her head until the air conditioning managed to cool the room to a cool and comfortable 80 degrees :(.  She did manage to keep her her sense of humor with her and I appreciate her coming with me and her good attitude.  Terri, you are the TOPS!!!

Funny things said today:

1.  Molly:  "Mom, you have to come and look at all the dog poop under the bed".

2.  Cindy on the phone with my mom:  "Mom, Terri is being such a good sport."  Mom to Cindy, "Just remember that it is early in the trip."

3.  Terri to Molly "What has been your favorite part of the trip so far?"  Molly:  "All the stops to go to the restroom."

4.  Madison to Terri:  "I know a a game we can play, close your eyes and I'll count to 10.  1, 2, 10...ready or not, here I look at you."

19 different state license plates seen today.

The funniest signs seen:
Tulsa:  Billboard for "The Yard Sheriff...bringing lawn and order"

Springfield KOA...A picture of a coat hanger with a hotdog roasting over a fire says "Its all fun and games till someone looses a wiener".

Well I am off to wash the sweat away from me and they layers of dirt, chocolate, ice cream and pizza sauce off of the faces of my children.

Over and out,
The Wagon Queens
