Day 2...the day that would not end.
We really had lofty aspirations of leaving early but for some reason it just did not work out. We seemed to have trouble getting started. Perhaps it was that our stopping to get gas, which let to driving through McDonalds for some dollar menu items, or the "quick" stop we made to the Candy Factory to grab an unholy amount of candy...or our sweep through the World's Largest Gift Shop...or again having to stop to pee an exorbitant amount of times.
There was still crying today, but it was contained to the younger travelers (THANK GOD).
Speaking of the girls, they are holding up pretty well. We only had to take one trip to the woodshed for a come to Jesus meeting today. They have kept themselves pretty entertained with the sweetest invention ever, the DVD player!
Not many funnies to report today. It seems that there is not much of a sense of humor past Oklahoma, except for the old lady in the PT Cruiser with the "Adopt a Turtle" bumper sticker. I was not aware that was a pressing issue in our country, or maybe it was a euphemism. Who's to say?
Anywho, we finally got going about noon and pushed forward like a car load of crazy women and were so happy to reach the Steak and Shake in Indianapolis. (Sorry Aimee that I did not call. We were so far behind, that I had to literally eat and run).
32 state license plates have been found including ALASKA.
We arrived at the KOA at 11:03pm and showered and I tried to subdue the wild children that fell out of the car. It took a sledge hammer and 3 bottles of Benadryl to coax them off of the ceiling. (Not really so don't call CPS).
We should arrive to our Oma and Opa's quaint historic farmhouse built in the 1700's tomorrow around 6 pm, but not to worry, our blog will continue through the entire 19 days. (Insert extreme sigh of relief here! Do it now...no really I mean it)
Okay so we are a little road weary so I will sign off for now.
Thanks for reading and for the words of support. Terri and I are excited to share our time with you all. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoy sharing it.
Over and out
